Club activities and key contacts
The club meets on the SECOND Thursday of each month. On EVEN months, this is a full club meeting, commencing at 7.30 pm unless otherwise notified in the club newsletter or on this website, at SHANNONS, on the corner of Newcastle and Collie Streets, Fyshwick. Meetings are an opportunity for guest speakers, technical demonstrations or discussions as well as a social chat over coffee and cake. Club dinner outings are held on the SECOND Thursday of ODD months, starting from SHANNONS at 6.30 pm or as advised on the What's On page. A variety of other events occur during the the year with at least one activity scheduled for each month. Details can be found on the What's on page and in Morris Matters, the club newsletter which is circulated during the first week of each month, except for January. Regular activities include
garage crawls where we get to see everyone's mess; technical days when
members’ cars are inspected on a hoist and free advice is provided on their
condition ; social activities like coffee runs, show 'n' shines,
cruises, swap meets; participation in rallies including the WHEELS
Expo and
Marques
in the Park, a must for every Club member; or the opportunity to develop
your driving skills on the skid pan. Experience is one of the greatest assets inherent in any club and ours is no exception. Our members have an incredible depth of knowledge about Morris Minors, from assisting with a concours standard showpiece to most modifications. And there's no shortage of advice and assistance on how-to do it or where to get a hard to find part, including supplies of spare parts for sale or swap among members. The Club boasts a small but extremely interesting and comprehensive library which complements members' knowledge. This has been catalogued and is readily available to Club Members. Inquiries can be made to librarian@canberramorrisminors.org. Newsletters are exchanged with other clubs. This exchange of information extends the network of technical information and general interest in Morris Minors to a national level.
