Morries all in a row at Marques '08

Congratulations to Club Treasurer Sue Claydon on winning two trophies at the 14th National Morris Minor Rally in Brisbane over the Easter weekend.

Her 1954 coupe conversion, second from left in this pic of the Morris display at Marques in the Park 08, was selected by popular vote from the 170 vehicles on display at Brisbane's Southbank on Saturday, 11 April to receive the award for the People's Choice Favourite Displayed Morris Minor. The car also was selected for the Paul Kelly Trophy for the overall best customised vehicle at the National Morris Minor Rally.

As was expected, the car turned heads as a small convoy of Canberra members travelled north, and then cruised around Brisbane during the weekend. More details about Sue's car and its history can be found on the Club Cars page.

The car, along with a phalanx of other vehicles showing off the ingenuity and abilities of Canberra restorers and customisers, will be on show at the annual Marques in the Park 09 which will be held this year on Sunday, 22 November.

Marque off 22 November in your diary now.

The Canberra Region Morris Minor Club was formed on 25 May 1980 with an initial membership of 45. Its first newsletter was produced in July of that year and in August the first organised club outing saw a Morris Minor cavalcade head off to Queanbeyan. The Canberra Region Morris Minor Club Inc. is managed by a committee comprising a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and other committee members. Of these other, several key positions are fulfilled; namely: the Public Officer, Newsletter Editor, National Rally co-ordinator, Librarian and Technical Officer.
